Artists Open Call
We know that artists can play a key role in challenging our interpretations and preconceptions of the world around us, and have the power to make us think and feel differently on topics that are vast or intangible. To encourage different perspectives and nuanced conversation around the event’s theme, we would like to invite anyone to submit their creative responses to the Truth.
For inspiration, check out our Truth theme outline, but also think about what your definition of the truth might be, what is important to you and what you think people need to know about.
Selected artwork will be included in a printed zine to accompany the event, as well as being featured on our blog, both with full credit to the artist. A limited number of free TEDxSkoll tickets will also be available for successful entrants who wish to attend the event. When submitting your entry, please indicate if you are interested in applying for one of these tickets.
Curation of the zine will be carried out by lead artists Alison Baskerville, Louise Byng, Aliyah Hasinah and Shaheen Kasmani, who will be looking to showcase a broad range of work from a variety of makers, so we would encourage you to freely create your own unique interpretations.
Submissions can be created in any medium that can be reproduced in print or shared online, including but not limited to drawing, painting, photography, textiles, poetry, digital and film.
Please submit your entry as a .jpeg, .pdf, .mov, or .mp3 file no larger than 5MB via a file hosting platform such as Dropbox, or link directly to where the work can be found online. Those selected for inclusion in the zine will be contacted to provide a further file at 300dpi A5 (148mm x 210mm) size, so please bear this in mind when creating your artwork.
Please note: We are interested in the possibility of reproducing all entry types in print if selected, and this could include video stills, photographs of 3D, installation or performance projects, and links to moving image or sound files.
Deadline: Sunday 26th March
Submissions will be accepted until midnight.
